GE Sealants for Commercial Use
Now Available at GALCO
GE is the leader in silicone construction sealants, proven by the fact that the company has more than 1,500 U.S. patents on silicones alone. You won’t have to decide between the hundreds of choices though, SBS has made it easy by carrying the four products commercial contractors need most at the Galco Distribution Center in Anchorage.

General Purpose SCS1000 is a clear, one-part, acetoxy cure silicone sealant that offers excellent adhesion, weatherability and elasticity for general purposes and weatherproofing. It’s ideal for glazing and sealing applications and can be used on glass, glazed surfaces, metal and many plastics.
SilPrufâ SCS2000 Sealant is the standard for high-performance weatherproofing and glazing, where long tooling time and high joint movement are required. If neutral cure compatibility, long life, flexibility, high joint movement capability and a broad color selection are what you need, SCS2000 sets the standard. The product’s 30-minute tooling time ensures easy application and longer on-the-job working time. It can be used as a weatherseal in both conventional and structural glazing applications. SCS2000 holds without primer to common materials such as glass, paints, plastics, most metals, stone, concrete and masonry. It is designed for both narrow and wide joints where long tooling time and the ability to withstand high joint movement are required. It comes in eight standard colors and in custom colors
Sanitary SCS1700 is the solution for most sanitary fixturing needs. SCS 1700 is mildew-resistant sealant, ideal for ceramic tile, showers, tubs and plumbing fixtures. It adheres to glass, glazed surfaces, plastics, imitation marble and stainless steel. SCS1700 is tack-free within about 30 minutes and cures in five to seven days.
Contractors N SCS1800 Sealant is ideal for general purpose glazing and sealing applications. It adheres to glass, glazed surfaces, metal and many plastics. SCS1800 can be used for window manufacturing or assembly. The product can withstand incidental touch within 30 minutes after it is applied and develops its full properties in three to five days. The performance and proven reliability of GE silicone sealants have made them the “sealants of choice” for construction projects around the world. Call Galco to find out how the right GE product can maximize your design freedom for both new construction and remedial projects.
To do the right job, sealants have to be applied to properly prepared, compatible surfaces. Here are a few tips for doing it right:
- Prepare the surface on the same day you caulk.
- Use cleaning solvents in a well-ventilated area.
- Don’t use GE Silicone sealant products on any galvanized surface.
- Don’t clean surfaces with detergent or soap and water
- Clean metal, glass or plastic surfaces with solvents such as mineral spirits or lacquer thinner.
- When using solvents, wipe the surface dry with a clean cloth or lintless paper towels.
- Never allow a solvent to air dry or evaporate without wiping.
- Make sure the solvent you are using is not contaminated, and the rags you use are clean.
