Donn® Brand Suspension Systems Are Now All Fire Rated
Donn® Brand Suspension Systems have been redesigned so they are now available in a standard, fire-rated configuration. The company used to sell Class A and fire-rated versions of DX 24 and 26 main tees, and DX 424 and 216 cross tees — now they’re available in one, fire-rated configuration. The best news is, you’ll continue to pay non fire-rated prices for these four items.

USG Corporation, manufacturer of the Donn Brand Suspension Systems, also has started manufacturing all of its grid systems (except for stainless steel and aluminum), from hot-dipped galvanized steel. The body and cap will be produced from HDG steel, insuring the most corrosion-resistant grid available. An exclusive four-step protective process will ensure paint adhesion for the lifetime of the product and is now a standard offering for all hot-dipped galvanized steel caps.
USG also has redesigned its main tee integral splice, offering a number of improvements including: an improved audible click when making the tee-to-tee connection; closer connection tolerances, for tighter installations; lower insertion pressures, so the installer doesn’t tire as quickly; easier to remove main tees; and, complete system compatibility with just one clip for cross tees and one integral splice for main tees.
Finally, the Donn fire lance has been redesigned to make it stronger. Most people know that the main tee fire lance is the primary feature that allows a grid component to be classified as fire-rated by Underwriters Laboratories. While Donn has always had an effective fire lance, the new design changes the effect the fire lance has on the bulb of the grid, which is the feature of the grid design that provides strength under load. The newly designed lance does not “cut through” the bulb, allowing the bulb to maintain its integrity and resist more load. Donn Brand Suspension Systems are continually being improved to make the product better and its installation easier.
