And for good reason. More than 200 doors come out of SBS’ millwork shops in Anchorage and Fairbanks on any given day, adding up to thousands of doors being sent statewide each year. SBS’ millwork manufacturing capabilities also go well beyond just doors. Products that pass through the company’s millwork shops include vinyl, wood, garden, custom-size and commercial windows as well as a wide assortment of doors including interior and exterior doors, pet doors, garage doors and commercial steel interior and exterior doors. Whether it’s a stock or custom order, SBS’ millwork shops are responsible for taking the product from the time of the order to the delivery stage. Products produced at the millwork shops (located across the street from SBS’ Anchorage Lois Drive store, and within the same building as SBS’ Fairbanks branch) also are supported by a specialized sales staff in both cities. “A number of factors set SBS’ millwork capabilities apart from the competition including a wide assortment of quality products, the SBS commitment to customer satisfaction and the fact that the shops are able to sell it all from the door, to the jamb stock, hinges and handles,” says Anchorage Millwork Manager Larry Spence. All told, SBS millwork operations employ a total of 36 employees, 27 in Anchorage and nine in Fairbanks, who work six-days-a-week filling orders and customizing product. The millwork facilities employ stable and knowledgeable professionals who stay with SBS over the years, and who have built the expertise and contacts to offer the best product at the best price. Orders that come in from any of the SBS branches, except for Sitka and Fairbanks, are handled in Anchorage. From there, millwork employees tap into their established network of suppliers to fill every order, whether it’s a stock item or a specialty commercial product. The millwork shops also offer prep service for interior door replacement to match an existing jamb and installation of garage doors. Custom-size windows are another of the millwork shop’s specialties, as are exterior doors with decorative options such as side-lights, full glass and transom lights. Whether its an order of one or 100, SBS customers can be assured that the company’s millwork facilities can handle the job quickly and that orders are filled correctly the first time.
