L.J. Smith Fiberglass Columns

In addition to beautiful staircases, L.J. Smith also offers a complete line of Olympic-Cast fiberglass columns. These architectural columns not only add beauty and detail to a residential or commercial building, they also have load-bearing capabilities.

Olympic-Cast columns are made from rotocast fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) and are stronger than concrete, steel or aluminum. The hollow centers are non-porous and water and rot-proof. Suitable for interior and exterior applications, the columns can be paired with a variety of styles of caps and bases for a unique and detailed look.

Olympia-Cast tapered columns are available in smooth or fluted styles, in varying diameters and lengths. Other options also include traditional stock wood columns and smooth, non-tapered round and square columns. Split columns also can be ordered for use as pilasters, or for assembly around existing structural members. Other options include attic bases and ornamental capitals made of fiberglass or composite materials.

The columns can be ordered shaft only, shaft with a Tuscan Base and Polyurethane cap set or shaft with Tuscan Polyurethane Base and Cap set. FRP bases are recommended for outdoor use or other conditions where the columns might be subject to severe weather, since they are made from the same material as the columns.
