Top Shop Carpenter
Job Duties
Manufactures and/or assembles countertops of specified materials such as wood, Formica, Corian or performed laminate using hand and power tools and adhesives to meet order specifications
Read blueprints, shop drawings or written instructions to determine materials required, cuts, method and sequence of assembly.
Prepares and cuts the parts to specifications including locations of cutouts for sink and faucets using a template to assure accuracy. Bevels and applies trim material to edges.
Measures, shapes, adjusts, trims and sands parts and joints to assure components fit snugly, using hand and power tools, sandpaper.
Positions precut parts and subassemblies on worktable according to blueprint specifications or assembly instructions and examine joints to insure snug fit.
Applies glue to parts, using brush or spray gun, and fastens parts together to form component, using staple gun, hammer or power screwdriver.
May install countertops as required including field adjustments, affixing tops, back and end splashes and caulking.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical labor including tasks that require stooping, bending, reaching, handling, fingering and seeing. Must have attention to detail, ability to follow directions with little supervision, and be safety minded. Previous carpentry experience preferred.
